My Services

I specialize in adult psychotherapy and work with individuals and couples facing a wide range of concerns. I have a particular interest in working with college students and adults struggling with anxiety and depression, couples, expectant and new mothers, and individuals who are contemplating the impact of substance use on their lives. Additionally, I have extensive experience supervising new clinicians and offer supervision for counselors seeking licensure in Washington, DC.

Individual Counseling

Most big transformations come about from the hundreds of tiny, almost imperceptible, steps we take along the way. – Lori Gottlieb

Individual therapy can be a powerful resource for growth and change as it encourages deeper self-understanding and increases self-acceptance.  Psychotherapy can provide a fresh perspective on a difficult problem, and point you in the direction of a solution. Often it is helpful just to know that someone understands. Specific benefits include the attainment of your personal goals, a reduction in anxiety and/or depression, an increased sense of well-being and more satisfying relationships.

Areas of Specialization:

Anxiety:

Anxiety is very common and responds well to psychotherapy. I work with clients to help them examine and alter unhealthy thought patterns and behaviors. These patterns can contribute to excessive worry and stress, and often stand in the way of them feeling free to live full and active lives.

Substance Use:

In addition to treating anxiety, depression, and relationship issues, I have experience in substance use counseling and enjoy working with clients who are concerned about their substance use. I encourage them to examine this use more deeply, and help them learn new ways of managing the difficult thoughts and feelings often associated with their use.

Couples Counseling

I see couples at all stages of a relationship, including those who aren’t experiencing conflict but would like to gain skills to deepen their connection, learn more about their partner, and keep their relationship strong. I work with couples of all sexualities, genders, and configurations - e.g. monogamous, polyamorous, open relationships.

Working with couples is a significant focus of my practice, and I strive to incorporate ongoing study, clinical training and supervision into my work to help couples thrive. I am a graduate of the Couples Therapy Training Program at the Institute of Contemporary Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis (ICP&P). I also currently engage in an ongoing couples counseling consultation group with colleagues.
